The short face to face dimension of Wafer Check valves is ideal where space is at a premium and their low weight makes them easier to install than conventional flanges and weld-end valves. The single disc design comes in two types. The standard type has the disc hinged outside the disc diameter and therefore opens fully. The Tilting Disc design is hinged within the disc diameter which makes it easier to open and close under low flow conditions but means that there is some restriction in the bore when the valve is fully open. The twin flap design is usually cheaper but also has restricted bore when fully open.
