Lubricated Plug Valves operate in a similar way to
Ball Valves but the closing member is a
quarter-turn taper or parallel plug. Tight
shut-off is obtained by the lubricant that is
injected onto the seating surface of the plug via a
supply hole in the top of the valve stem. This can
be applied at any time using a manual screw or a
hand-operated pump.
Various special lubricants are available according to the service that the valve is handling and, because the seal is constantly renewable, 100% leak-tightness in both directions can be achieved over a long period in service.
A variety of materials and end connections are available in sizes up to 36" (900 mm) as well as multiport designs.
