The closing member on Gate valves is usually a
wedge gate but for steam applications the parallel
slide valve is often preferred because there is no
wedging action involved which, in wedge gate
valvess, can cause the gate to jam under certain
differential temperature conditions. They can be
supplied with screwed, flanged or weld ends.
Needle valves are smaller valves up to 2 inch size which are used for control applications. They are usually supplied with BSPF or NPT screwed ends but are also available with flanged or weld ends.
